Just a short distance from The Seadog Inn rests one of the world’s most stunning golf courses, Playa Grande. A par 72 with 12 of 18 holes that overlook the beautiful Atlantic Ocean, Playa Grande is sometimes referred to as the “Pebble Beach of the Caribbean”.
Your game and view are enhanced by the sound of the ocean waves crashing against the soaring cliffs. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, this challenging course is a golfer’s paradise. Often favorably compared to Pebble Beach in California, Playa Grande is suitable for serious or casual golfers alike.
In addition to the exceptional views, all players agree on the beauty of the design, not to mention the high quality greens, bunkers and fairways. Driving range, chipping green, practice greens, club rental, golf lessons, carts and caddies are all available. The course is located about 10 minutes from the Seadog Inn.
There’s no better place to work on your tan than by the brilliant blue waters of our white sandy beaches. Just a few minutes from The SeaDog Inn are five stunning soft-sand beaches; Playa Grande, Playa Caleton, Diamante, Cabo Frances and La Entrada. Each beach is naturally landscaped with tropical coconut palm trees.
Other activities close-by include hiking, waterfalls, four wheeling, safari tours, horseback riding, whale watching (seasonal), wind-surfing at close-by Cabarete, scuba diving, fishing and more.
Thousands of humpback whales migrate right past the SeaDog Inn to Samana Bay every year for the breeding season, which runs from January through March. Their journey is a long and slow trek spanning from the polar regions of the North Atlantic to the warm and clear waters of the Caribbean. Some days as many as 30 whales have been seen passing through our backyard.
Lake Dudu, Lake Azul and Local Waterfalls
The crystal clear fresh water lakes are a national treasure and a great place to cool down after a day in the sun. Diving from the cliffs, swinging from the rope swings or cave diving from one lake to another make this a unique experience.
